What to expect from Rickie Fowler in 2013?
By far, the 2012 season has been the best for Rickie Fowler. The former top ranked amateur golfer was not only consistent with his performances, as he made 20 cuts out of the possible 23, but also managed to win his first tournament on the PGA Tour.
Fowler won the Wells Fargo Championship to claim the maiden victory of his professional career.
Apart from grabbing his first tour title, he has posted five under-ten finishes, including a second place finish at the The Players Championship.
His second place finish at the The Players Championship really showed his true class, as he faced the top ranked golfers of the world. His performances in the majors were impressive but overall it was a decent season for Fowler.
Although he could not make it to the US Ryder Cup team that featured in Medinah but it was a successful season for the American.
The world number 28 has played some decent golf throughout the year. Although he could not pose many under-10 scores but his performances were consistent, as he made cuts after cuts.
Just like Hunter Mahan, Fowler had an excellent start to the year but faded in the end. The dip in his performances could either be due to tiredness or the fact he could not cope up with pressure.
Either case is yet to be analyzed before a conclusion is made. However, it is for sure that he is here to stay for long.
Coming off from a somewhat successful season, the American would boast high confidence going in to the next season.
He has the calibre to play amongst the top ranked players and his performances at the The Players Championship showed his class.
If he can continue to perform the way he performed at there, then he is sure to have an excellent time in the 2013 season.
Fowler was disappointed when he found out that Davis Love III did not pick him for the Ryder Cup. In order to compensate for that, he will try to make it to the President’s Cup team.
This will also give him some idea of the team events, which can be vital in ensuring that he makes it in to the Ryder Cup team in 2014.
Fowler would certainly win at least once next year and, this time around, he is sure to have some decent performances in the majors as well. One never knows, he might just nick one as well.
Rickie finished eighteenth in the FedEx Cup standings and he will be hoping to improve on this stat as well.
A decent start will be crucial for Fowler, as it would give him momentum going in to the heat of the season.
