What to expect from the 2011 Formula 1 German Grand Prix taking place at Nurburgring circuit?
The 2011 Formula 1 season is on its way and first 9 of the 19 races have been done and dusted in different parts of the globe.
The next destination for Formula 1 cars to roar down the silence of the tracks is the Nurburgring circuit of the German Grand Prix. This will be the tenth event of the season and no doubt, after just looking at the last nine races of the season, some thrilling
action from the top teams can be expected over there.
The German Grand Prix is held on two circuits, both located in Germany, namely Nurburgring and Hockenheimring. Out of these two circuits, Hockenheimring has been the one dominating the German Grand Prix but for the 2011 Formula 1 season, Nurburgring will
be the one.
If we look at the teams and their chances at the circuit, Red Bull are the most favourite team to win there. Red Bull’s previous performances and the fact that the ban on the blown diffuser has been lifted by the International Automobile Federation (FIA),
will serve as an advantage for them and their chances at the German Grand Prix are higher than any other team.
The team that benefited from the blown diffuser clampdown in the Silverstone Grand Prix, Ferrari, are second in line as they have shown that despite their slow kick off in the 2011 season, the Scarlet team is now fancying their chances in the season.
Ferrari have been strong on this circuit since the beginning as they have won 20 out of the 71 times the race was held in Germany. Their car looks to be quite suitable for the German challenge and it will be interesting to see how bright the Scarlet car
shines in the race weekend.
McLaren will also fancy their chances in the German Grand Prix as their drivers are also in contention of the championship race. McLaren are also the only team behind Red Bull that can take the challenge to Red Bull in the constructors’ table.
McLaren were also quite strong in the Silverstone Grand Prix but a pit-stop error for Jenson Button, after which he had to pull out of the race, and wrong strategy for Lewis Hamilton came in way of Silverstone podium for the McLaren team.
Moreover, six German drivers will arrive on the home track out of which Michael Schumacher, Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld will have their eyes set for the podium to please the German crowd. Schumacher will be fancying his chances on his home track as he
was quite strong in the Silverstone race with the Mercedes’ team upgrading the car.
Nevertheless, the German Grand Prix is going to be the championship decider as the gap between the top three drivers Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso is quite large and either the Aussie or the Spaniard will have to take the fight to Vettel
in the German Grand Prix or 2011 will be decided in Nurburgring.
