What to expect in the next NBA season – NBA Feature (Part-2)
Free agency and Trade possibilities
The free agency that was supposed to take place on 1st of July was postponed with the expiration of the previous Collective bargaining Agreement on the same day after NBA locked out its players.
With the end of the ongoing lockout, the prospect free agency and trade possibilities will finally become apparent which has kept the basketball fans and the players in a state of wonder.
Although the free agency is not that start-studded as compared to the previous ones however, there are a couple of players who will attract the free market as it takes place right away after the NBA Lockout.
The most interesting part of the free agency will be the future of the top prospect on the board Tyson Chandler.
Chandler’s one year contract with Dallas Mavericks, in which the NBA franchise became champions for the first time in their history, expired after the 2010-2011 season. While Chandler has indicated to re-sign
with the team, Mavericks also want to have the bi man back on the roster. However, with the new CBA which will bring in a hard salary cap and luxury tax compared to the previous one, Dallas Mavericks might not be able to re-sign the muscular centre Tyson Chandler.
On the other hand, the trade possibilities are the most exciting aspects of the 2011-2012 season. It has been rumoured that the gigantic centre of Orlando Magic will make a shift into a bigger market to
accomplish his championship dream like former Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James. Chris Paul of Golden State Warriors and John Wall of Washington Wizards are two outstanding young player who might be traded to a big team as well. The shift of three
big players will require the exchange of NBA superstars which will make the trade block even more exciting.
Dirk Nowitzki defending the title
After years of struggle to furnish his resume with an NBA title, Dirk Nowitzki’s untiring surge finally paid off as he managed to overpower the spirited Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals and guided Dallas
Mavericks to clinch their first ever NBA title in the franchise history.
Now, Dirk Nowitzki has a bigger battle to fight which is to defend the title. The biggest threat for the German sharp-shooter Nowitzki will be the big three LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh of Miami
Heat as they will be eyeing revenge for sure.
In 2006, it was Miami Heat who toppled Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals to secure the NBA accolade. Dirk Nowitzki and Mavericks took their revenge in the last season and they need to prepare themselves
for the same reaction from Miami Heat in the 2011-2012 season.
It will be interesting to see how Dirk assembles his squad in the next play-offs to defend the title and add a second NBA championship to his resume. Nowitzki is entering in the final stages of his career
and this is the time he shows his best to keep Dallas Mavericks the best team.
Although, the performance of the players tends to decline with their aging body, however, Dirk has still shown no sign of tiredness and fatigue in the age of 33 which shows that there are some good years
left in him.
