  1. I get the picture that you are learning to drive, and not attempting a driving test.

Some tips to think about, every time you get behind the wheel:

    1.  Trust your instructor if he or she is professional, and experienced. I hope you are with a good teacher.

    2. Trust your own instincts about danger. Blend together common sense and a little bit of fear. Remember that fear can help keep you safe. (I'm not talking about irrational fear, though.)

    3. Make sure that your time behind the wheel the first thousand miles is with plenty of rest, no blasting radios, distracting passengers, or crying babies.

    4. Never assume about what the other drivers are going to do. It can cost you. Expect the unexpected, and plan to respond, not react to these things when they happen.

    5. Know how your equipment works. Test the brakes, in a parking lot. Know how to signal, to turn on the wipers, and to  adjust the mirrors, before you ever start moving.

    6. Do all of this in a parking lot or deserted street first, if you have the option.

    7. Just to help you lighten up, answer the following question:

Why in America do we park in driveways, and drive on parkways?

    Good luck.

  2. Look on the bright side! You will always know where your wipers are if it rains......

Don't worry...........the Driving Instructor will put you at ease.....your first lesson consists of getting to know the vehicle you will be driving, both inside and out, and you will do some driving, mostly straight ahead and backing up, pulling out from the curb and pulling up to the curb, stopping and starting. Your Instructor will probably do a demonstration drive to allow you to see how turns are made, etc.

Enjoy it.......think positive and have fun!....you are just suffering from fear of the unknown..........you don't know the Instructor yet, and you don't know what they will expect of you.

Driving Instructors (any Instructor) never expects you to know much about what you are about to learn.....oh, don't forget to breathe...........lol

  3. Ummmm.... people drive in the rain.

Just go in there with a positive attitude that you're going to pass no matter what!  Don't be nervous, just remember all the stuff you've learned.  When you stop at a stop sign, pause for at least 3 seconds.  If you don't look both ways they will dock you for that.  Also, when you parallel park remember to look over your shoulder and when you change lanes.  If you just use the mirror you will flunk because the instructor wants to make sure you remember to look behind you.  Always use your signal light.  Give yourself a good few car lengths behind the other cars and make sure to drive the speed limit.  Oh and don't run any yellow lights.

    GOOD LUCK
