im taking AP literature/english this year, including composition.

what will i expect to learn in this course.

  2. Well, if you have a good teacher, you should learn a lot. AP Lit is different from other courses because rather than teaching information, they are teaching a skill. You will learn to write a quality essay that is both evaluative and analytical on the subjects of poetry and prose. The writing is a huge component of the class, though it takes a long time to develop your skills to the point of scoring consistent eights and nines.

    The other component is the literature itself. you will likely read, discuss, and write about numerous books throughout the course of the year. They will mostly be classics and cover many themes. In addition to the fiction, you will also read plays which will include Shakespeare, and likely others.
