What to expect travelling to Turkey and Germany?

I'm going to Germany and Turkey with my father for the first time to see relatives. What can I expect in terms of food and hospitality, Yes they are my family but I want to make sure I put on a good impression. Is there anything I shouldn't be doing? And is there anything I should bring with me?

I can speak for Turkey.

People love guests, so you'll get a lot of attention. Be respectful to elderly people. Kiss their hands and put it on your forehead (but only elderly people),they'd love that if you are not Turkish :)

Eat everything you are served.Otherwise they might think you didn't like the food. If you are full,eat a little but eat from everything. Do not laugh or speak too loud.Do not stare at people too long if you don't know them.And something universal:smile.
