  1. jason is right. if you have a nile monitor and are asking us what to feed it, you really are not prepared. The thing will get big and it can get very nasty. Their bite and nails can cause some serious damage and they need a lot of living space. They're upkeep will definitely cost a pretty penny.

  2. If you dont know that then get rid of it. They are one of the hardest monitors to care for and if you didnt do your research you will hava a major problem

  3. they eat small , whole animals but, sorry to say if your asking this question you should not be owning a nile monitor at this time.  these grow to be very large , powerful, VERY AGGRESSIVE lizards that require housing and feeding that can put you in financial hole very fast. do the right thing by you and the monitor and donate it to a reptile rescue near where you live. they will find a suitable home. there are lots of cool reptiles that are a much better choice for someone new to this hobby. e-mail me if you have any more questions.

  4. He will need rodents and other small animals, and you are prepared for it to get around 8 feet long right?

  5. Jason is rite not only are niles hard to handle and expensive to keep there bites can carry nasty bacteria that can require medical attention. Somebody else already said it but they are really nasty eaters as well, sometimes they kill there food and wait till it rots before it will eat it. Nile monitors should only be sold to very experienced monitor owners not just reptile owners but monitor owners.

  6. I had one of those before, they were bad@$$. Anyways, when it is a baby.. feed it baby fuzzies, small birds, hamsters, and other small rodents. Or, if you don't want to see animals get harmed, there are Nile Monitor bites at most pet stores. I work at a pet store. If you don;t trust me, try searching Nile Monitor caresheets on google.

  7. you should do some research on your new pet. be warned, they are very messy eaters.
