What to fertilize a pine with? How should I care for my pine?

I have a pine in my front yard, its not exactly a tree, more like a very very large bush, I don't know what they are technically called but, anyways, its dieing. Some of the needles are turning brown and needles are only really growing on the ends of the branches, if you look behind the needles, inside there is a bunch of dead needles and twigs.

What should I do?

What would be something good to fertilize it with?

  1. It sounds like a Mugo Pine.  They are very hardy and forgiving to grow so if I were you I would look for an insect infestation.  As mentioned before take a sample of the bad wood to a local nursery for advice.

  2. Fertilizing a dying plant wil usually kill it.

1 - Is the pine the right kind for your climate?

2 - Are you giving it too much water?

3 - Are you giving it too little water?

Take a small branch to alocal nursery so they can identify it and answer question #1.
