Question:

What to get a 5-year-old girl for her birthday?

I'm going to a 5-year-old girl's birthday party who I babysit for. I've gone to birthday parties for other children I babysit for, and normally picking out a gift is easy because I get to know the child so well and see what he/she likes to do. It's not that this girl is spoiled and I'm unsure what to get her, but when I am over she never plays with any toys. She loves to use her imagination, and doesn't ever use a prop, toy, etc. with her imaginary games. She does enjoy dressing up in her games, but she has more dress up clothes than I do regular clothes, as that is always the present her parents give her so that she actually likes it.

Any ideas on what to give her? Any help and suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!

  1. - Barbies

  2. How about a gift certificate to one of those paint your own pottery places? She sounds pretty creative. Or maybe a kids' art project from a craft store. Maybe one of those puppet show sets? I'm not sure if she's into artsy stuff other than just playing make believe, but if she has that creative side, I think anything to encourage that will be a hit. Check out melissaanddoug.com for some ideas.

  3. If she never plays with any toys, does this mean that she doesn't have any, or she doesn't like them? If she doesn't have any, get her a toy of some sort that she can use her imagination while playing with it. Does she like drawing or coloring? I sure did when I was 5. You could get her some supplies like markers, crayons, or a craft kit.  Good luck!

  4. i would give her money or a gift card, then she is sure to get something she likes.

    hope i helped good luck

  5. How about something artsy? There are all kinds of cool crafts and coloring sets. Maybe she would like those create-your-own T-Shirt sets. She can paint her name or draw a picture on plain T-Shirts and then wear them.

  6. What about a few sets of beaded doorways or those inexpensive tulle things that hang on big hoops!  She could use it as a changing room to change into her dress up clothes.  Or a fun  wicker basket trunk for her dress up clothes.  Of course with a pair of shoes inside of it or something!

Or art supplies are always a huge hit.  Maybe some of that clay that you can make tiny things out of and then bake... sculpey?

Don't forget books... everyone can use books!

These are my no fail gifts for kids!

  7. I think you should just give her some more dress-up clothes. When kids are little, the thing they like they just want more and more of. And if it's the only thing you're sure she likes, then you have to get it. She probably has other interests she just doesn't show them as much because she doesn't like it as much. Just buy her some dress-up clothes.

  8. You should get her a webkinz. they are very popular all over the world and many children under the age of 10 love them! u they are soft little plush toys in many colors and animals! u can get them either rugelar sized or tiny. each animal comes with a special code, which they can enter online at webkinz.com, and they can interact with an online version. they can even interact with their own friends. The program is very safe so there is nothing to worry about identity theft, etc.

If you have any question go to this website    http://www.webkinz.com/us_en/

    or contact me at cyberyugi9@yahoo.com!!!!!!

p.s.- i am very sure that your daughter will love an webkinz or two b/c i hear little children everywhere talking about webkinz! If you do consider buying her a webkinz, i suggest a regular sized panda, b/c it is very cute and every month, webkinz company picks a webkinz and if anyone enters that webkinz animal code online during that month, theyw ill get special items for their online pet!

  9. Rubber duck!

  10. well i have twins and they r  3 yrs and they love BRATZ DOLLS and HANNAH MONTANNA  and i have and niece thats 5 she loves the same things

  11. Ask her what she would like.  That's what I do so I don't have to guess.  I ask the child - tell me three things that you would like to get for your birthday and then I buy one of those gifts.   I purchased a monthly activity book for a child one time and she loved it.   Every month she looked forward to receiving it in the mail.  It was kind of like a weekly reader but a bit different.

    Good Luck
