Question:

What to give as a wedding present?

One of my best friends is getting married. She has 3 kids with this man already and they finally can afford a wedding.

I live in a different state now and they don't have a bridal registry as things are quite tight. I'm flying down for the wedding but have no idea what to get them as the present. Any suggestions?

  1. a popcorn maker and "the game of life"

  2. Bunnings vouchers are always a hit and can be used to get something for their home together or to make some wanted improvements.

  3. Money

  4. How about you watch the kids and give them a weekend (or a night) at a REALLY nice hotel...or just dinner...or a spa...

  5. Here are some special ideas from etsy.com:

Plaque with the family name and date established on it: $20

    Personalized wedding bowl: $215

Glass plate and champagne flutes: $65

I have no association with any of these vendors. I just thought they looked extra-special.  :)

  6. cash in a card, or a voucher.

It is impersonal but it is practical and helpful!

  7. I would ask them if there is anything that they particularly need other wise i would get a gift voucher so they can pick what they need.  I dont really agree with money being given i dont really have a good reason i just think it seems a bit lazy...and unless it is a substantial amount it usually gets used for everyday things...

  8. A department store gift voucher is always good, that way they can buy what they want/need.

  9. Do you think a blanket embroidered with there names and or wedding date would be nice for them? Sometimes it is hard to shop for people whos lives are so intertwined

  10. Considering what their financial situation is, I would normally say cash.

But I think since you guys are close, you might want to ask  her.  Sometimes when people are in a financial bind, if they get cash they will feel forced to pay bills rather than spend it on themselves.  It could be that all of the stress that your friend is under that she hasn't put herself first and perhaps she would really love a gift certificate to a salon or to a particular store where they could purchase something that both of them want.

  11. a good thing that never goes wrong is a wedding photo album you can never have to many and there are some really nice ones out there. im sure they will have heaps of photos taken on their special day and need some where to keep them safe.

  12. I think cash is the best thing to get any couple.   Clearly, they need it.  They have 3 kids and they're finally getting married.

So, get a really nice card and put some cash in it.   No one ever complained that they received money as a gift.

  13. money would be ideal, with e beautiful card. And im sure they will really appreciate it as it can go towards the wedding/honeymoon or something for the house. The amount is up to you, and what you can afford : ) good luck

  14. Something useful ... or creative.

Better yet, ask what they need the most!!!
