What to give at a baptism?

I've never been to one before, and I'm not sure what to bring as a gift. Btw-it's for a good friend of mine...

A personalized Bible for the baby. A blessed rosary. Basically anything to do with Christianity.

skip the religious gifts (what would they do with them anyway?!) -- buy books for the baby. i think books are a great gift.  My baby is getting baptized next month and i think it would be odd if people gave us crosses and bibles and such.

A savings bond is always a nice gift.  I just got one today for a baptism this weekend!  You will need baby's full name and ss number.

Anything you want to buy,you can buy from a toy to clothes it doesn't really matter.

My son was baptized in June of this year and mostly people just gave him cards.  Also, maybe a baby's first Christmas ornament (bc of a lot of them have the baby Jesus on them).  He also got a book of Baby bible stories.  The gift doesn't necisarily have to be a Catholic/christian gift either, just anything a baby of that age will like, along with a happy Baptism card!

I've never brought a gift to a baptism... and I'm not expecting anyone to bring a gift to my son's baptism. Especially since I'm having a family only thing without the hoopla.

go to a christian store , they have lots of stuff that would be nice. if its a girl and she has peirced ears, buy her some cross shaped earrings. or you could by a cross for the babys baptism or a picture frame that says something like "God bless baby"

Things Remembered has some religious things that you can buy and have engraved with the baby's name and date of the baptism that would be nice. You can buy a Picture frame special Kohls sells them for baptisms. WWW.THINGSREMEMBERED.COM jewlery with a cross on it for when the child gets a little older.

the gift given at baptism is the holy spirit.  which is something that cannot be bought. bring dessert.
