Ok, I am having my Husband a suprise 40th Birthday party.. it will be On November 15th. At noon... But I am trying to decide where at and what to fix... I live in West Virginia, and he loves hunting and Camping, so i was thinking of having it at a Local State Park at one of the shelters, BUT!!!!!! I am afraid it will be cold, or even snowing or raining, and I do not want it to be a drap boring time, And I also thought about the local Community center.. But I have to reserve it ASAP... What do you think???? Also, I am in question as to what to have for the guests to eat... After all it is for a 40 year old, even though there will be several kids there, it is a party for an adult...

I am guseeing about 30 people will be there. But I want to have enough incase more decide to come... I will be inviting about 45 people total...

I have never Gave a party for an Adult, and I am Stumpped!!!

I was thinking of ordering Chicken from Wal-mart, amd myself making Potato Salad, Baked Macaroni & Cheese, Homemade Yeast rolls, and the Birthday Cake...

I was also thinking of having Pepperoni rolls made, and BBQ Sausages, and finger foods like that...

What do you think is a good Idea???? Please help Me, I don't want it to be too much or too little... I want this to be very special for my husband.. he has NEVER had a Party in his Honor or For him, and he so much deserves it...

  1. hmmmm.....tough one. My husband is a big hunter also so I am trying to think of a great idea for you. It would be great to have it in an outdoor/woodsy area. a local park building would work, or maybe there are some cabins in the woods you can rent out for one day? even if it is a bit cold outside (if the location you pick allows it) you could always have a campfire going to warm people up! hunting and campfires go together perfectly!

all your food ideas sound great- maybe you can deep fry a turkey instead of the chicken? those are so yummy!

play a game where everyone tries to do their best animal calls, maybe a match up game of different pictures of wild animals or fish down one side of a paper and the names of them mixed up down the other side (throw in a few extra names to confuse people a bit!). have everyone dress in hunting wear- camo or bright orange or fishing gear. go to the local hunting supply store and pick up some paper poster targets of different animals to hang up as decorations, green and brown balloons and streamers everywhere.

maybe you can make it a surprise party- start him off on a trip to go paint balling with a few buddies then they all show up to the party location and everyone is there waiting!

    hope this helps a bit!

  2. Ok I know how you feel, I gave my husband a surprise party last year for his 60th. Have it at the community center, cant depend on the weather.Make up or buy some meat and cheese trays, have different types of bread and crackers and condiments. Make or buy potato or macaroni salad, slice up some tomatoes and onions and have some sliced pickles ready. Chips and dips are for anybody. Just don't over plan and make it as easy on yourself as you can so you can enjoy the party. Then you can decorate the community building with some tents ,camping gear, and stuff like that, just use your imagination. You could also use those little smokies in bbq sauce. If you order the trays all you will have to do is to tell them about how many people you are expecting and they will be able to figure out how much to  fix. It's what I do at my  job, cater some parties and stuff. But most of all just relax and have fun, what ever you do , he will love you for it!!!!!!
