  1. One thing I never do is experiment on company.  Whether it was my friend or the Pope coming for dinner, I'd cook something I'd made before knew I could cook very well.

If you find a new recipe you want to cook for them, try cooking it at least once when you don't have company, before the big day, to make sure it will turn out good.

  2. RESERVATIONS!

  3. I have one special dinner that I serve on such occasions:  Veal Oscar.

I dip Veal cutlets into flour, then egg, than panko <bread crumbs> and saute quickly until golden.

I put Bearnaise sauce into a squeeze bottle and make a free-form zig zag pattern on dinner plates.

Place the cutlet in the center of the plate, top with 3 lightly steamed asparagus spears, top that with several good sized hunks of Alaskan King Crab. Drizzle alittebit more Bearnaise on top.

Sprinkle freshly topped Italian parsley over all and garnish with a couple of orange slices.  I slice the orange, make a quarter cut and twist.

Everyone raves about it.  It looks a lot more difficult to make than it really is.

  4. You need to put more information. When you say important, do you mean, family or work? Theres a big difference. If it's family you would make some of the specialties that you know your family enjoys in particular. If its work related, then try and find out things like is the person a vegetarian? Are they allergic to something? Questions along that line. Then if you're not a great cook, get someone to do a home catering job for you. They'll help you plan and arrange everything.

  5. Chicken Parmesean is great no matter if your eating it for a random lunch or the president of the united states comes over. Everyone will still enjoy it.

    Cook for about 10-15 mins

  8. Do something that you're comfortable making, but just make the presentation fancier:) ...  Parsley, orange slices, radish roses, fresh herbs ...  Set the table beautifully, with fresh flowers and candles.  Use doilies under dessert dishes;  use chargers under your place settings & napkin rings.......

  9. Find out what would like or their favorite restaurant...make reservation or most meals are basic  meat and potatoes/
