  1. Lucky you! I did my semester in Granada, Spain. It's the biggest city in Andalucía and a phenomenal place to visit! It might help if I knew exactly what city you were going to...but here is a general list:

*Toiletries (bring enough to get you through a week or so till you can go to a Super and buy what you need including hair appliances as plugs and frequencies are different)

    *Makeup

*A few basic jewellry items (big hoop earrings, necklaces, etc.)

    *Hairbrish

*Contact solution, contacts, glasses (if you need them)

*Lots of skirts, dress pants (everyone dresses pretty fashionably, so 4 skirts, 2 slacks/pants)

*2 pair Nice jeans (no baggy or grunge)

*Nice tops (go for ones that you can interchange with bottoms, say 10 different tops)

    *A sweater or three

*A jacket (one that will keep you warm - it does get cooler in the winter and night)

    *Swim suit

    *Towel

*Good comfy walking shoes (you walk EVERYWHERE, so 2 pair)

*High heels (1 or 2 pairs for clubbing - make sure they're comfy!)

*Boots (cute trendy ones if you're into that)

*Scarves (these are trendy accessories no Spaniard lives without. Bring one and buy more when you get there; their version of a scarf is different than ours)

    *Sunglasses

*Pocket Umbrella (or buy one there)

*Notebook & pen for school (can buy more if needed)

*Diary or journal (UTILISE THIS! it's awesome to look back years later)

*Photos of you, your family, your friends, your state, your school (host families LOVE to see this kind of stuff)

*A small gift for your host family (something unique to your state is good)

*A discman with radio capabilities or buy a small clock/radio there (I learned a lot of my Spanish listening to the radio stations there. plus you get exposed to some really great music)

*A couple good books you've been dying to read (lines are LONG...for everything...bring a book)

    *A digital camera

*Lots of memory cards for said camera (or film if you have 35mm) if you don't have a way to upload them, or you can do it at a photo shop there in Spain

I think that about covers it. You can pretty much buy anything and everything you need there unless you have some serious allergies. Clothes are harder to purchase unless you are super skinny and medium height (5'5") and can be on the expensive side depending on your city. Remember to document everything! Have a great trip! Buen viaje!
