What to pay a babysitter?

How much would you pay an 18 yr. old babysitter, who is still in High School? She'd be watching my two children- ages 7 & 3, from the hours of 7:00pm- midnight?

Depends--if you're in a more rural area, 4-5 dollars an hour should do it. If you're in an urban/suburban area, I'd say 8-9 dollars an hour.

If she is good, whatever it takes to keep her coming back. It is hard to find someone good that you trust. I would not drop below $7.00 an hour. But, it really does depend on where you live.

Does she drive?  If she does and she's good, pay $7-10/hr.  If you have to pick her up, I'd drop that by $1/hr.

I would say $20 is enough for 5-6 hours. It depends on what the baby sitter has to do while babysitting because the kids will be in bed by 8pm(my guess).

Also, you have to take in account the price of gas unless you are picking them up and taking them home. I would say add 2 times the price of gas if they are driving to you house.

I would pay her $9/hr for each hour that your children are awake. For the rest of the time pay her $5/hr. So if your children go to bed at 8:00 PM, she would get paid $29. Your kids are pretty old, so they can be more independent.
