I am in the SF Bay Area of California. I can start seeds inside under grow lights. What should I be getting ready to plant in my garden next, for fall? When should I start the seeds/plant the plants?

  1. Hi:

I am a landscaper and designer. One of the things to consider is what type of garden are you looking to achieve? There are many styles of garden such as an herb, vegetable, evergreen trees and shrubs, flower, and a combination of deciduous and evergreen. Decide on what type of garden you are looking for.

If you are looking for a year around garden, go ahead and plan for planting some trees and shrubs in the fall. If you are planning an herb and flower garden, you can go ahead and start germinating seeds now for the fall. There are so many different plant specimens for you to consider, and especially in your climate zone. I will link you to the spices and herb section of my website. There is a page on growing herbs from seeds, which you can also do for flowers and vegetables. I will also link you to the gallery of plants section and the variety of more plants. There are many plant specimens that you could also considered. These two pages may give you some additional ideas. If you need more help, feel free to contact me. Good luck to you and have a great day!
