  1. First, I would make sure you use spell check.  And then just say something along the lines, Following is my resume.  Please consider this as my application for the job you offered me via e-mail on July 11, 2008.  Or something to that effect.

  2. Are you sending it to the lady who told you to apply or to the corporate office?

If sending it to the person who referred you:

    Dear Name:

It was a great pleasure speaking to you on DATE regarding a job opportunity you have available at COMPANY NAME.  Per your request, I am attaching a copy of my resume for your consideration.  I look forward to meeting you for an interview at your earliest convenience.  I can be reached at CONTACT DETAILS.   Thank you for your time and consideration.

If you are sending it to the corporate headquarters:

    Dear "name"

On DATE I had a conversation with NAME regarding a job opportunity at COMPANY NAME.  At her recommendation, I am sending you my resume, attached, for your consideration.  I look forward to meeting you for an interview at your earliest convenience.  I  can be reached at CONTACT DETAILS.  Thank you for your time and consideration.
