What to say to boyfriend about bad present?

My boyfriend got me a birthday present and I don't care for it. He got me jewelry that was not at all my taste. I really appreciate his thoughtfulness, but I don't know what to do.

It isn't fine jewelry so I can't say that I couldn't accept it. I really really would rather never wear it in public. Furthermore, I wouldn't want him to ever pick jewelry for me again. I thought he had better taste! What do I say to him?

you should tell him the truth. it will help from it happening again.

if you don't want to do that say that the metal affects your skin and that the next time he wants to get you jewelry that you should go too lol.

Um, excuse me sweetheart - take a look in the mirror! Say something to yourself about your thoughtlessness ... sorry but just accept it graciously and never say anything bad about it.  When you whine and complain as you are it makes you sound really shallow.

What was it, a big, gold-plate knuckle-duster ring with your initials covered in fake diamonds?

Maybe when you're all grown up and married and stuff, then you can start trying to educate your man and instruct him in the subtle elements of perfect good taste (which you clearly believe you possess).

Until then, I suggest it would be polite of you to accept gifts offered to you in the spirit in which they were intended. Your boyfriend obviously wanted to make you happy, but you appear to be too mercenary and picky to be that.

just be real with him and tell him, i dont like the jewelry. Can I change it.

He may get upset, but will appreciate that you told him the truth....

Anyways he probably suspects you dont like it...
