I was thinking boasted chicken and maybe mac 7 cheese, baked beans, and stuff like that... What do you think for a semi formal wedding. We all have tux/ suits and I am wearing a gown. I want "nice food" but cheaper food.. any suggestions??

Also what do you think about a cup cake tree along with a wedding cake?? IDK?

  1. I think that chicken would be wonderful. If you are going to make the food yourself you could also think about doing turkey. You could make a big turkey and set up a "craving" station.

You could also serve the mac n cheese, roasted vegetables, potato salad, green salad, french rolls, pasta dish, etc.

There are lots of great options.

I also love the idea of a cup cake tree. Or, you want to make it a little bit cheaper, you could just get a small round cake for you and your husband to cut. Then you could get sheet cakes for your other guests. Either way the cake ends up getting cut up - and sheet cakes are much cheaper.

For the sodas you could always put them in some kind of bucket with ice and dress it up a little. You could do something like this and add some cute flowers or garland around the bucket if you really wanted to:

  2. what about a buffet? or do you need sit down aswell?

  3. The wedding cake tree sounds FABULOUS!!

And its totally fine to stick with cheap fall foods for a wedding, If you want to keep it classy though, hit the food network web page for ways to play up classic foods. For example: mac & cheese could become mac and cheese mini bites.

Make it exciting but make it yours the way you want it becuase its your big day!!!!

  4. Maybe squash soup, pumpkin pie or pumpkin something...hehe :) Broasted chicken sounds great!

  5. Roasted Chicken sounds great.  Or go with a Turkey and do a whole Thanksgiving dinner.  Do stuffing, a wild rice dish, Potatos ect...  That could be really elegant without being too expensive.  You could serve it either buffet style or 'family style', where they serve platters to each table and people help themselves.

  6. Hi.  Yes, roasted chicken sounds good!  Why not pair it with some:

    ~ potato salad

    ~ coleslaw

    ~ baked beans

    ~ some kind of vegetable

What I have seen done at parties where I live is to get a kids plastic wading pool (they are all on clearance now)....like this:

Fill it with ice....you will need LOTS...and you are set!

Dessert:  For a chocolate fountain....yes, marshmellows would be good, as would strawberries.

Wedding cake/cupcakes.  This is really your decision.  You don't need both.  If you want to have cupcakes....then have cupcakes and a SMALL cake for your and your hubby to cut (for photos), but then have the rest be cupcakes.  I certainly would not have BOTH!  That will be too much cake.
