Question:

What to study while waiting for CFA prep material to come out?

I passed the CFA Level I in December and decided to wait until June 2009 to take the Level II. I just needed a break (finished grad school and started a job shortly before the first exam). The CFA Institute site says that test sign-up is usually 11 months before the test date, so I've got another month off.

Any suggestions as to good books to read in the meantime?

  1. Review the material from level I especially those areas that are also part of level II.

Other than that, I would only say to take it easy for another month or even longer. When you get into cramming for the exam at the beginning of the year, you'll be tied up enough. You may as well enjoy the summer. Good books to read for the summer: The Storyteller by Mario Vargas Llosa, Measuring The World by Daniel Kehlmann, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and Humboldt's Gift by Saul Bellow.
