What to take/do in the event there is a highjacking on a cruise??

I am taking my 2 baby girls, ages 5 yrs and 14 yrs on a cruise to cozamel. I have never been on a vacation like this, so any advice would be great. Thanks.

Well first of all Security on the cruise ships are very strong and the child care on the ships are very well managed. But If you feel safer I would bring walky talkys on the trip.  Also If this helps When your children are in the children area It is good to know that staff is with them all the time.  Also Security on the ship to even get on is very well managed If you don't have the documents you need You don't get on the ship

That's about the last thing you need to worry about on a cruise.  If that ever did happen [very highly unlikely] you'd follow what the captain instructs you to do.

Your kids are much more likely to get hit by lightning in their own back yard than to be hijacked on a cruise.

Take a deep breath and then concentrate on the real things you need to worry about on your cruise.  Such as, which entree shall I have tonight?  Which activities should I do on the ship?  What shall we do on shore in port?  Etc.

Walkie talkies would be great, but as far as hijackings go, that is extremely rare. I have only heard of this happening with small cruise ships and only in remote South Pacific islands done by pirates. When ever a big cruise ship(I have cruised with Princess 8 times) is in port, first it is escorted by a ship pilot from the port. Then while in port, the ship is surrounded by patrol boats for the whole time. I have seen this in Hawaii, South Pacific islands and yes, even Mexico. A cruise ship is definitely one of the safest forms of travel anywhere. One thing to know is on day 1 everyone has a safety drill that is mandatory to attend. So no worries about your two babies at all.
