There is a train in the airport. Make sure you get the tickets atleast five days out over the internet or you will pay 250 euro per ticket, also they have a happy weekender ticket which cost around twelve euro, but can only be used on the weekends. You can take the second class trains anywhere in germany for 24 hours witht his ticket

There is a train station in the airport that will take you straight to the main train station in the middle of Munich.

To get from the Munich Airport to Munich downtown the cheapest solution will be the tram (metro). You could use the S1 or the S8 both are going to the city (Marienplatz). It will cost 8,80 Euro.
