  2. For the day?

Power bars (any brand) drinks, emergency blanket, flairs, charged cell phone. Chapstick.  Fold-able, mini hack saw.

Longer?  Get a battery powered cell charger. Vaseline to protect your skin from long term exposure, spare mittens (put on over gloves if stranded) and a scarf.  Box of woo matches.

If the phone has a GPS option, turn it on.

Go with someone else, let others know where you are headed.

We snowmobile here in New England and we carry all of that with us and we know the trails like the back of our hands.  We just want to be safe in case something freaky happens.

We have Verizon cell phones and the reason is that they have service everywhere in Ma, NH, Vermont (limited) and all over ME where we go.

    Have fun!
