Question:

What to think about/Social Anxiety?

HI, I'm currently working at K-mart and this is just my second week at the register. I seem to be dealing with a lot of self-esteem/anxiety issues when people come through my line. I'm never able to grab their attention and ask them questions like, "did you find everything ok" etc because they never even look at me...am I doing something wrong? I try to be friendly, and I think a major part of it is that I'm trying to please everyone, but I would just like to "go with the flow", not sure how this happens. Maybe I'm giving off negative energy, or maybe I need to focus on something else? Sometimes I try talking to myself or picture something in my head, but that doesn't usually help. Idk, any suggestions? Thanks!

  1. I'm with Ducky Jackal. If this wasn't a big problem before, I'd write it off as new job jitters. Chill and keep on plugging. This, too, shall pass. You'll be going with the flow before you know it.

  2. Just ring the people out and if people start complaining that is when you need to change.  You've only been working there 2 weeks so you are still learning the job.  The self-esteem/anxiety issues will disappear  when you've been there awhile.
