I've never tried Indian food before and would really love to try it. My husbands a little aprhesive and normally is a steak and potatoes kind of guy. We live in Renton, WA (outside Seattle). If any one knows of something we should try and a place here in our area, please let me know! We are not vegetarians so something with meat is good!

  1. Tandoori Chicken is killer.  And be sure to order the Nan (which is a tasty Indian bread).  If you like garlic, order the garlic Nan.

Let's see...I don't have a menu in front of me, but I remember some kind of curry lamb that was good too.  Also, be sure to try some of the mango chutney. (My spelling may be bad on these things.)

If he's a meat and potatoes guy, drop him off at Black Angus and I'll take you.  (Just kidding).

Don't pass up this opportunity to eat some of the most interesting food on the planet.  Indian food is a fave of mine.

  2. Awesome food

  3. Native Americans cooked their food mainly outdoors...of course they did not have BAR-B-Que sauce....Try shooting a deer with a bow and arrow...you'll be eating insects...

  4. chicken curry with rice is probably a safe place to start

  5. Just off the top of my head, the best meat dish would have to be chicken tandoori or chicken masaala.  If you like vegetables try the bhagan bharta (curried eggplant.)  That's one of my favorites.  Never been to Seattle so I can't tell you where to go but Punjabi cuisineis tastier than most other Indian cuisine.

  6. I love Indian food.  We have some great restaurants here in Queens, NY.  I take friends who aren't sure if they'll like it all the time.  For your husband, since he's a meat/potatoes kinda guy, definitely the Tandoori chicken or prawns (Basically grilled chicken or shrimp).  Then there's Masala Dosa (which is a crepe stuffed with mashed potatoes, peas etc.)  Basmati rice is yummy and if you like creamed spinach, try the Sag Paneer.  Or you could get a Tandoori Grill which is a sampler of grilled dishes.  This will give you a taste of the food without being overwhelmed by curry sauces.

  7. get samosas (puff pastry filled with peas, potatoes and spices) and then get 2 or 3 dishes to share...  i suggest murg makhni (chicken=murg) which is chicken in a creamy slightly spicy tomato sauce, briyani (a rice dish) with veggies or meat of your choice..  and maybe another meat or veggie dish.. or if you are really wary of getting something you don't like go to a buffet so you can sample..  the only thing i've ever had at an indian place and not liked was that spinach dish..  one of the spices didn't appeal to me..

  8. Tandoori Chicken is best for a meat and potato kind of man. I love everything.  I am not familiar with the area but most Indian restaurants have lunch buffets, so it is good if you want to sample alot of different things, just look in the phone book or call to see if they do.
