  1. When my little sister got married at City Hall she wore a simple yellow dress (her favorite color) with (I think) white polka dots. Anyway, she curled her hair and all that stuff too.  You want to look like you're attending someone else's wedding, or a fancy play/restaurant/etc. for city hall weddings (so I'm told by many of my friends that chose to marry this way).

  2. I would probably say a dress. In my favorit color. I would have my fiance wear a pair of nice dress pants, white dress shirt and tie to match my dress. Yes I know it is just in front of the judge. But I would also make sure we get some pictures done. I would also ask my 2 witness to dress for it. After everything is done and over with go out to a nice dinner. With a few close family members and friends.

  3. I think something like this would be nice:

Definitely get something special . . . but avoid long trains.  I don't think long trains are appropriate for the courthouse.  Wear something pretty, but not cumbersome.

A white, ivory, or champagne suit or pantsuit would also be appropriate.

  4. A full blown wedding dress would look out of place at a civil ceremony.

Of the civil ceremonies that I have known of personally, the bride wore either a simple wedding dress that was not floor length... or a skirt suit... tasteful and elegant.  Also champagne or ivory was always the colour of choice.

  5. A simple white sheath dress or an off white two piece suit in silk or satin. An updo but not too fancy with a flower or a pilbow with a half veil. Think a la Audrey Hepburn & Princess Grace. Simple yet elegant, chic style like Jackie O (Kennedy).
