Question:

What to wear in Barcelona..?

Going on Wednesday, and not really sure what to pack...

I will be doing daytime activites such as visiting Art Galleries & all the main Tourist Attractions there..

And probably just going for meals at night time..

Is Barcelona a fashionable city?

Is it possible to look 'overdressed' or do people get quite dressed up?

Bit of a stupid question, I know, but I don't know whether to pack casual or more 'dressy' outfits! and do people cover up there or are they not really bothered about it?

Thanks lol

  1. I just got back from Barcelona and it is quite fashionable but be aware that it is absolutely SCORCHING so don't wear layers just keep it nice and simple

        hope this helped

  2. Ya know, you're a tourist, so, while it's a fairly cosmopolitan city, and pretty fasionable, you will see people in all sorts of dress and undress.  I thought the people, especially the teenagers, in Barcelona were much LESS formal than in other parts of the country.  Lots more jeans, belly shirts, skimpy clothes, etc.  You want to be comfortable.

That said, why don't you have a peek:

  4. i agree with others........ it´s BOILING here. absoutely BAKING. so bring skirts, shorts, and light clothes!!!!!! ive been living here 11 months and i still sometiems feel like im gona die of the heat :P

i dont think its that fashionable no, on the metro i usually think most people look pretty scruffy. but there are some good lookin ones too :-p

i dont think people dress up majorly for meals, but it depends on the place, some people do. but for example, wheeas in england, everyone wears black suits to work every day and looks very smart, here they wear summery clothes and just a shirt with trousers or whatever.. its more casual. so look nice, and dress up  abit, bring some elegant clothes, but generally they dont seem to go as far as other countries

  5. You don't have to get dressed up to go to art galleries or tourist attractions, there will be plenty of 'touristy' looking people at those. You know, guys with socks and sandals on, f***y packs, etc.

Depending on the restaurant you go to at night will impact what you should wear. If you are going to a nicer restaurant you should wear a dress, a skirt, or an outfit that looks nice. Barcelona is a fashionable city, and I don't think you will look overdressed if you keep it sophisticated.

I would pack both dressy and casual outfits. Like I said, it will depend on what your doing and where you are going. I think it will be better to have some more dressy things though, that way if you are in a classier restaurant you won't feel under dressed.
