Question:

What to wear on an Ireland vacation in June?

I will be doing a tour of the entire country in late May and early June and was wondering a few things about what to pack. First, what is the weather like this time of year? Second, I have heard that you cannot wear shorts, jeans, or sandals into a pub. Is this true? Finally, what would you recommend as typical (and respectful) attire, in general, for Ireland?

  1. Well normally the weather is very changable but apparently this year we are supposed to be having the hottest Summer on record so I would recommend light clothes but also  bring a hoodie/cardgain/pull-over .. Also bring a light jacket because irish weather is realllllly   unpredictable rain could be just around the corner ..... There is no such thing as not being allowed to wear shorts , Jeans or sandals in

pubs...What put that into your head?  To check the temperatures in Ireland before you go go to www.weatherunderground.com and you will be able to check up on the predicted weather for the week two weeks following.......  Oh and have a great time!!

  2. Lot of nonsense answers there. Firstly It's very rarely that warm during our summer. Bring light jumpers it would probably average 16/17 degrees celsius on a GOOD day. I have wardrobe of t-shirts and i hardly get to wear em. If it does rain it is only ever light showers, no  tropical monsoons here. Pubs don't  have a dress code but late bars/clubs do have a dress code and sports shoes may well not be allowed. Generally though the irish dont dress up very well to go to pub especially men they have no style whatsoever ..pfff

  3. I've been many times in May and June, and I have seen a variety of weather. Take one or two sweaters, a raincoat or umbrella, and some cooler clothes. You should layer your clothes in case it gets warm. I don't wear shorts, but I wear jeans and shirts and have no problems in pubs. But if you go to a classy place you should dress accordingly.

  4. THIS seasons layering trends coincides happily with Irish weather!

I'd suggest capri's and tee shirts-but pack a warm sweater and jeans-

Most bars are casual during daytime at night they become a little pickier for men-Khakis would probably be fine in most places (and most places expect a collar on your shirt)

The weather can be so changable it would be almost impossible to cover everthing-pack the esscentials and purchase what you need when you get there-I'd recommend Penneys stores-there's one in every town-very reasonably priced clothes which aren't totally minging

  5. I was in Dublin in July. They were having a heat wave, so it was about 90 degrees. I wore capris, shorts and skirts. I had no problems going into any pub with the shorts on. I would suggest taking some nicer pants to wear if you are going to go into a lot of churches....some don't require long pants but I would wear them out of respect. Most of the people I saw in Dublin had on a lot of the same things you would see here in the States. Have fun...I LOVED it there!

  6. wear whatever you want. it can be warm. shorts or skirt and sring tops for sunny days.

there is no restriction on what to wear in pubs

  7. Ask again closer to the time as the weather is very changeable here, and it could be anything in June, although it is being bandied about that we are to have a very goood Summer this year (heat in mid twenties). But bring along one jumper, for evenings and just in case.

Except in the ponciest of nightclubs in some of the cities, you can wear what you like to pubs. It has nothing to do with respect. People just don't care. In teh west you will still find people who go to the pub in wellington boots.

Typical attire here is the same as most places. Jeans, t-shirts, runners, etc. Depends what look you are going for.
