What to wear skiing in tahoe mid-february?

i've skied all over the east coast, but never out west. what will the temperature be like in mid-feb at heavenly or squaw valley? do people wear their heaviest coat, pants, etc?

  1. No. People do not wear their heaviest stuff in February Last year I wore two shirts, a vest, wind pants(with long underwear bottoms because said pants lacked insulation). I was fine, until about the top of the mountain. So, a windbreaker (and one less shirt) would  probably be fine. Of course, we didn't get any snow last year, so you might want to pack a warm coat just incase. There is no need for a down parka though.


  2. Tahoe is usually alittle warmer than the East and even though it's moist snow straight off the pacific it's still drier than Vermont. Expect it to be around 20-25* that's pretty much the average all winter there

    ps: most of the people you'll meet there are from the bay area so they've never felt the winds hollowing at the top of killington when it's only 10* with a windchill of -20 so you might get some strange looks skiing in just a windbreaker lol

  3. Kinda depends of the February. Some you could be out there in a Tshirt others you need a heavy jacket. I would pack for both just in case!
