What to wear to a memorial service?

do you dress differently then a funeral? what's the best to wear to one?

  1. Wear something a little on the conservative side just out of respect.  I doesn't have to be all black.

You would wear the same to a memorial service that you would to a funeral - they are basically the same thing.  You should dress nicely to show respect to the person and the family, but it doesn't have to be the traditional black, but you also shouldn't wear a lot of white or light colors.    

  3. No.  I would dress similarly to what I would wear at a funeral -- unless the memorial service announcement requested otherwise.  So, it will be something dark, conservative, and in good condition.

  4. Dress like a TV anchorperson. Tastefullly, conservatively, but not mournfully.    

  5. A memorial service is clearly a celebration of life, and so may not be quite as funereal in dress. I would wear whatever outfit the person celebrated liked best on you, or just your best day clothes, as if you were going to a business appointment.

    In some parts, black is expected at any service for a deceased person, but it's getting to be only the old and conservative that expect that.
