  1. try not to wear jeans. try wear liking stretchy adidas pants or water-repellent pants. many a thick sweatshirt or cardigan will do. wear a bun or ponytail on the ice. it's a bit tricky at first to ice skate, and it takes like 2 hr to learn how to find the center of balance. renting skates doesn't usually cost more than 5 dollars

  2. Hairstlye - Anything...Doesn't really matter..

If you can rollerblade, you can ice-skate...as simple as that..

IF you've never rollerbladed before either, it shouldn't take too long to pick up..

You can rent ice-skates at the actual venue..

    Hope this helps...:P

  3. I would suggest going in exercise type knit pants (when you fall your jeans will get soaking wet and very cold), a t-shirt and a jacket along with some gloves, and thin polyester or nylon socks. Your hair shouldn't matter too much, a ponytail or something easy is just fine. Skating can be slightly challenging, but usually you can begin to get the hang of it in a few hours, though if you would like to learn advanced skating it can take many years. Rental ice skates vary from place to place and area to area, at my rink they cost $1.50, but they may cost up to $3.00.

  4. Ok so what to wear:

    - I wouldn't wear skinny jeans since jeans take a long time to dry and are not very stretchy

    - some type of exercise pants, like yoga or sweat pants, anything that’s made of a stretchy material

    - layers on top so that as you warm up you can adjust what your wearing so like a t-shirt, sweater, and a jacket

    -  gloves for sure, it keeps you warm and if you fall your hands will not get scraped up by rough ice

    - hat if you want

    - no scarves or jewelry or anything else that can end up trailing behind you

    - think socks or tights, it helps your skates fit better

    For your hair:

    - doesn't really matter as long as your hair is out of your face

    Skating for the fist time:

    - Its not that bad once you get use to the ice

    - start by just standing still on the ice and getting your balance

    - then take very small steps, kind of marching like steps

    - once you have gotten used to marching on the ice you can try gliding a little

    - use your friends to support you physically and mentally if they know how to skate

    - use the railing or boards to support you too

    Just in Case:

    - If you fall as most people do, even my friend who has been a figure skater for a long time falls

    - face the ice and get on your hands and knees, keep your palms on the ice (good time to have gloves) draw one foot under you and then the other, and then push yourself up with your hands

    Rental Skates:

    - make sure you have the right size, the people at the rink who rent you the skates should be able to help you

    - at the rink I go to rental skates are only $3

    Most Importantly:

    - Have Fun!

  5. At public sessions what I see all the time are people wearing what they'd wear if they were shopping. Just be comfortable. You are just having fun so no need for the figure skating attire.

My advice: match cold weather. Besides any normal outfit, ***bring gloves*** and two layers: A thin one and a thicker one. The reason is if you get too hot you can shed a little. (So wear a nice sweater with a long sleeve under it, or a sweater with a North Face or other jacket over it.)

Sometimes having fun makes it seem less cold. ;)

TIP!: Bring long, thin socks. Skates are a few inches above the ankle, are tight as it is, and if the socks bulk up you'll regret it.

  6. heey :]

no offence if this is your VERY first time on skates it might be hard. but you'll get used to it in a few minutes, it costs likee 10$ to rent skates probably maybe even less. umm, if the jeans are really tight, you wont be able to bend.. lol soooooooooooo i dunno maybe convicne all your friends to wear gym pants you could wear like gym pants and like a cool hoodie and scarf and stuff. lol like i mean black yoga pants :P not like button up pants haha. curl your hair. because if you wear it down straight it will get wavy in the weater of the arena [trust me i learned the hard way] and it will get super frizzy too. and it might take a few mins to get used to it, like it takes a LONG time to get super good at skating but im sure you'll get the hang sooner or later. anddd im sure you wont be that much worse than your friends?

  7. well you should wear a jacket, no jeans cuz if you fall it wont dry well. and its not that hard to skate. on average it takes about 25 to 30 minuters to get used to the ice.and when you ice skate the fee for skates are normally about 3$. and its good that its indoors. good luck

  8. -You might not want to wear jeans to skate in.  If you fall, they'll get wet and heavy.  Wet jeans are so uncomfortable!  Plus, skinny jeans won't allow you to bend your knees very well.  Instead, wear some yoga pants or other athletic or stretchy pants.  Wear thin socks or tights - thick socks make the skates hard to fit and can give you blisters.  On top, wear a t-shirt with a sweater or sweatshirt over it, and bring a jacket in case you need it.

-You can wear your hair down, but a ponytail, or some other out-of-your-face style might be better.

-Just take your time when you get onto the ice.  Hold onto the boards as you go around to find your balance.  When you feel ready, let go and take little marching steps.  Be sure to keep your arms out to the side for balance, stand up straight, and bend your knees.  It's not easy, but you can learn:)  It takes everyone a different amount of time to learn, so don't worry if you can't pick it up right away.

-Rental skates aren't very expensive.  Usually just a few dollars.  Here, the rinks charge $6 for admission, and skates cost $2 or $3 to rent (depending on if you want figure or hockey skates).

-And bring gloves and band-aids (in case you get blisters).

    Have fun!  :)

  9. i would wear shorts and a t-shirt. Its is nice and warm indoors. Ice skates will be useful also!

  10. Be sure to start with wearing ice skates....
