I'm making my own invitations and I I'm using folding the paper twice. What tool can I use to get a nice sharp edge so the invitation doesn't stay open when it rests?

  1. Depends on how important the invitations are and how much time/effort you are willing to invest. For wedding invitations on heavy paper or card stock in "brochure" format I use a ruler and the dull side of a knife to score a line from top to bottom on the outside (back) of the invitation, fold the sides in, then go over the folds with a bone folder.

When I make paper invitations in letter format I just "eyeball" the folds but go over them with the bone folder to keep them crisp.

I would suggest, however, if there are a lot of them it would save a lot of time and effort to take them somewhere (i.e., Kinko's) that has a folding machine and have them done for you.  (If your church office has a machine try taking in some homemade brownies or cookies and seeing if they'll let you use their machine!)

    Good luck!

  2. A fold tool works the best. It's usually a piece of bone shaped like a fat butter knife. You should be able to find on at a craft store in  the scrap book or stationary aisle. Here's a link for what you need:
