What tool do i need to cut 1/4 in thick glass? ?

Is there any way to cut glass without buying a special tool? It is not tempered or safety glass so i know i can cut it.

  1. A glass cutter is your best bet. They're not expensive.

    A round carbide blade hacksaw will also cut glass, but very slowly.  


  2. all that is needed is a standard glass cutter(of good quality) clamp down the glass at the end you want to save(cut a length of wood and use a "C" clamp) tap the line where the glass has been etched with the ball of the glas cutter and snap of the end while wearing heavy leather gloves to protect your hands for being cut

  3. Ditto as Woodtech however just check on what glass your cutting.

    Some shatter proof glass will not cut at all and some when you do try will explode in a million pieces.

  4. A glass cutter is still the tool of choice, but your 'score' must be deeper,

    and you'll have to apply more pressure more evenly than you're

    used to doing to cut thinner window glass.

    A wire rod under the plate and a long pressure bar are a good idea.
