I have a 1996 Chevy Cavalier that completely threw it's serpentine belt. Please tell me, besides a new belt, what is needed to put the new belt on. I appreciate the help!

  1. just need a good size pry-bar to take the tension off the idler pulley when you install the new belt. the idler pulley is the pulley that just rides on the belt creating tension on the belt. if your belt was thrown off then your idler pulley could be defective. your local auto parts store can check the belt deflection when you install a new one to see if it is at fault or not

  2. Should only need a crescent wrench to pull up on the belt tightener so

you can slip on the new one.  Directions are usually under the hood

  3. only a few types  heres how and what you need
