  1. you have to be sure to mention the competition wich is Yahoo!-blurey

  2. I agree with the first answerer. The Google code is like a secret recipe.

  3. Discuss their top secret search engine algorithm.

  4. Have you heard of the Google code? I heard about it somewhere... apparently it's a code that SO many companies have tried to crack, because if you can crack it then it means your website will always be on the first page of search results. But nobody has been able to crack it... I reckon that would be a pretty interesting topic

  5. What type of speech is it? Are you going to be talking about google in a good or bad light? You can talk about how google.cn (chinas version) is different than google.com. They purposely try to censor things on google.cn that we are allowed to search for on google.com. If you search for certain information from china on google.cn such as "tiananmen massacre" or "free tibet", there are very few results compared to the american version of google. That would make a good story I think, American companies trading in their core values and ethics to please a rising economy in China. The google code the first person mentioned is called page rank and we already know what determines page rank.

To get on the first page of google you would need a high percentage of the following:

    1. More incoming links from other websites than everybody else (backlinks). Google ranks sites based on internet popularity. If I place a link to a website right here in this answer, then I will be helping that website out, plus yahoo answers is a high page rank site already and google ranks other websites not only on backlinks to those sites, but on the quality of those backlinks. If you have a backlink to your site from a website nobodys ever heard of, thats not a quality backlink. If yahoo or msn put a link to your site from their site, that would be a quality back link.

    2. Content, the more original text and pictures and videos etc. you have on your site, the more it helps you rank higher in google.

3.Age, the older the website is helps it rank higher naturally.

Page rank is not determined just based on one of these things, but a combination of them.

If we didnt know what the formula was, then people who have jobs in search engine optimization (SEO) would be out of work. They obviously know how to rank higher in google results in order to have that title.

My website was page rank 8...10 is the best you can get. I took some content off (I deleted a few pages of information) and that knocked my site down to page rank 3. If I had nothing on my site it would be page rank 0 but even though I have very few pages of content now, the incoming links to my site from quality sites keeps it at 3. If I start adding content again and making more pages, my website will rise in page rank again.

  6. I would include information that let's them know Google is more than a web site search engine.

That you can search for photos/images.

That there is a maps feature.

That it can be used to solve Math problems.

Stuff like that that an audience of general people would be most likely to use on Google.  The ones above are probably the ones I use Google most for besides the web site search.
