  1. First off wood is a very good toy for chinchillas and helps them out as they need wood to size there teeth down so they will be able to eat. There is alot of wooden toys for chinchillas that you buy at the store or you can make your own but be careful not to use a kind of wood that can harm chinchillas.  Another toy that is fun for chinchillas is a salt wheel, some chinchillas really enjoy playing with one and those you can also buy at the store.  Some chinchillas also enjoy tunnels that they can climb into or things that they can hide into, most likely they will be made out of food.  Just be careful and dont put plastic into a chinchillas cage because chinchillas will chew on almost anything they can get a hold of plastic as it can harm a chinchilla seeing that it isnt very good for them to be digesting. Chinchillas also enjoy playing in a wheel and this gives them good exercise too. Chinchillas also enjoy climbing so you could create ramps or attach wooden platforms around the cage or create a ramp leading up to one. Get creative! However even though you want them to have fun when there in there cage a chinchillas favorite toy is exploring the outside and the world around them so if you dont already have one get a ball that they can be put in and let them have fun exploring. Hope I helped. Best of luck!

  2. in mine i have a couple of hanging parrot toys what they love to chew and a cuttle fish bone with is also a good source of calcium and the cardboard tube from inside carpet rolls which they run in all night. i also have a flying saucer exercise wheel which cost over £60 and they dont bother with it, i live in hope tho. you can view the wheel and feedback on http://www.flyingsaucerwheel.co.uk and its available both in the uk,europe and usa

  3. I have a chinchilla myself and I've found myself very pleased with the number of things you can put in their cage.

First off, you should avoid plastic since it's not easily digested for them and potentially harmful.

Next, you might want to research the red dye on some pet's toys.  I read somewhere awhile ago that it is harmless, but it can turn their urine almost a red color.  While this is harmless, sometimes it causes alarm.

Alright, onto business. (:  Untreated wood is good, but not all woods are safe.  It'd be best if you bought wood from a pet store (Leap'n'Ledges) and mount it on your chinchilla's cage.  Mine loves those!  He likes sleeping and hopping from them all the time.

Some hamster toys are acceptable.  There is one in a pet store around me that is like a few colored logs held together by smaller, thinner logs with a walnut inside of it.  Mine liked that.  I believe they have them in a small size for hamsters and a larger size for chinchillas, but I bought the smaller one.  You can buy lots of little pet toys are your store, but if you're looking for something cheap around the house, I've got a few other things as well.

Toilet paper and paper towel rolls work well!  They love to shred them up, chew on them, toss them around, etc.  Also unscented tissues and unscented tissue paper is fun for them, but doesn't last very long.

Oh yes, if you have a cage with wire siding, bird toys work well too.  I have one of just some colored blocks of wood and a bell on the end.  It hangs from the roofing of his cage.  He seems to like that too as I hear the little bell chime at night sometimes. (:

There are also other things besides toys a chinchilla might like to play with.  Mine has a couple houses.  One is more fixed into place, but the other he abuses!  He tosses it on its side, on its roof and sits in it, chews on it, and drags it all around his cage.  He also likes to push and pull his marble slab around.  While those two things are almost a must have in any chinchilla's cage, they serve for more than one purpose. ^^  A wheel is also good.  Good for exercise and entertaining.  (:

Though as much as a chinchilla will find toys entertaining, my chinchilla loves to play with me!  He loves sitting in the bathroom with me, bouncing off the walls and crawling all over me.  Sometimes if I have a little object handy (a comb, old toothbrush, etc) and pretend to play with it and ignore him, he'll come take it out of my hands and run off with it.  It's always funny watching a chinchilla try to run with something rather large in its mouth.  x)

I hoped I've helped!!  Feel free to email me if you have any questions. :)

  4. A hollow log with holes in it. My friend's chinchilla likes to run in snd out of the holes!

  5. I have never had a chinchillla, but I am guessing that you would be able to put in chew toys, maybe an empty pickle jar for him to hide in! I hope this helps!

  6. I used parrot toys with my chinchillas. 1 was a large metal mirror with a bell attached, I trained them to ring it when they wanted feeding treats...what a mistake that was! Parrot toys are generally fairly robust and wooden so should be safe with chinnies too. Avoid anything plastic or painted.
