You have to take Amtrak's Adirondack service from Penn Station to the Whitehall, NY station. How you get from there to Lake George I don't know.

The Amtrak timetable shows a shuttle bus service from the Fort Edwards-Glens Falls station to Lake George Village.

The details are on amtrak.com, then go for the Schedules tab then select the timetable for the Adirondack.
