For me it would be the 30th street station in Philadelphia. Its clean with a decent concession area.

  1. New York City's Grand Central Terminal.  Virtually a miniature city in and of itself, with plenty of shops, businesses and restaurants in the terminal complex.  Smack in the middle of Midtown Manhattan.

  2. Amsterdam Centraal station during the day and early evening, but Haarlem after the shops close down.

    Both in the Netherlands.

  3. I go with 30th St

  4. Washington Union Station is fine to wait at.  It's a tourist destination in itself.  There's a large food court and two levels of interesting stores.

  5. NY Penn, because you're in the middle of New York City just 8 blocks from Times Square.   Ditto Chicago.

Washington DC is okay, there's a whole shopping mall and movies inside the station.  But aside from the Capitol building, nothing else is walking distance.  DC is best when you have 4+ hours of layover, because then you can leave and do the DC tourist thing.
