  1. I'm in agreement with RichardK.

Here are a few more links with regards to money use in Cuba.

You can also take credit cards and make cash advances or pay for activities/day trips on those as well...but again as long as they're not from a US-based financial institution.

    Have an amazing time!

  2. Don't take travelers checks. Travelers can only use CUC Cuban Convertible Peso.

    Good Luck)

  3. NONE... they leave a paper trail and you may not be able to cash them anyway.

  4. You don't, take Sterling with you instead, all the hotels in Cuba have banks and exchange facilities and you get a really good rate when you change your money from Sterling to Cuban Pesos, we were averaging 18 peso to every £10 while we were in Cuba at Easter and that is really good, most of the reps prefer you to pay for you trips in Sterling as you get a better deal that way, if you do take a visa or debit card please make sure it isn't an American based one as that will be refused and remember you will be charge 11.5% for any trip you book with your card or when you get money from the bank, we generally take about £500 with us for two weeks and for that we usually do at least 3 trips, buy pressies, tip the staff and buy booze and ciggies at the airport on the way back and still come home with about £60, Cuba is very cheap and the Cubans are just the warmest and lovely people ever, have a wonderful holiday.

  5. If you are going to take traveller's cheques be sure they aren't drawn on an American bank.  They would be fine in Sterling, Euros,  or Canadian.  You may find it easier to take cash which you can kep in you rroom safe and take it out as you need it to change to CUC (Convertible Pesos) which is the currency used by tourists.   You cannot buy CUC anywhere except in Cuba.  You can buy CUC  it at the airport upon arrival at your resort or a bank.   Check the site below for the approximate rate.
