  1. You need to check with the manufacturer or an agent to find out if the phone in question works in the USA.  The shop you got it from SHOULD be able to tell you.

  2. hmm your question is kinda vague, but my understand is you need to know the bandwidth right? It really depends on the area in the US. Where are you going? the US uses 2 frequency bands,  1900 & 850. You'd want to get a quadband just to be safe.

  3. You need a tri band phone, you don't need a quad band.  You may have to change the frequency on your phone when you get there. My old phone used to do this automatically but when I changed to a Samsung, I had to do it manually. I now have Siemens and this does it automatically for me. If you have to do it yourself,  it should be relatively easy.

What you may need to check is whether your service provider has an agreement with the US so you can pick up US signals. I'm on Virgin and that definitely works.
