Question:

What trim-levels for auto F-150s come with the center-console shifting instead of steering column shifting?

I know the Harley Davidson and King Ranch trims come with center-console shifting, what about the other trim levels for automatic transmissions? I've seen one, probably a Lariat, but I can't get a definite answer from anyone. I typically drive a Toyota, so I hate steering-column shifters. Please don't tell me to buy a manual trans. Thanks!

  1. you can no longer buy an F-150 with a manual trans, so that's not really an option.

except in the xl model, the center shift console is an option.  if you purchase teh bucket seat option in the truck to replace teh bench seat, they move to the center shift console.

  2. With the exception of the 60th Anniversay trims which have a steering-column stalk shifter, pretty much ALL F-150s that come with captain's chairs will have the center console shift--and, hence, will only seat 5 people (4 passengers + driver).

When in doubt, you can search the inventory of local dealers by going to http://www52.forddirect.fordvehicles.com...  Then look at the Window Stickers of specific F-150s and if you see a reference to a 40/20/40 seat configuration then you have a steering column shifter.  If it notes the vehicle has captain's chairs then, if it is not a 60th anniversary edition trim, then it will have the center console shift.

Good luck with your truck purchasing endeavors.  May I ask, where in the country you are located.  In California there were some pretty good sales last weekend!
