  1. hey man, im gonna go with danios aswell, they are pretty dam hardy fish, and you could also go with a betta of course, they like upper 70s or 80 degrees, but they can handle coldwaters. danios are probably ur best bet though

  2. White cloud minnows, danios and plecos are pretty hardy and can usually do pretty well in room temperature tanks.

  3. What size tank do you have? Is it fully filtered, cycled? If not, you're not ready for fish yet.

As for tropical fish, heaters don't cost much! Fish like white cloud mountain minnows and dojo loaches are sub-tropical fish, zebra danios can also tolerate lower temperatures. However, bear in mine just because a tank doesn't have a heater in it, doesn't means its coldwater, it's just whatever room temperature is. And room temperatures change depending on season, whether you have air con or central heating, so the water in the tank can be anything from icy in the winter to practically tropical in the summer, those temperature swings can harm both "coldwater" and tropical fish.

It's worth investing in a heater and keeping tropicals properly.

  4. here are some sub-tropical fish that should be ok if the water stays in there temperature range

    # danios 18c-26c

    # white cloud mountain minnows 15c-25c

    # paradise fish (not sure on temp)

the first two need to school in groups of 6+

    or you can try

    leopard fish (not leopard danios)

    or

    mosquito fish

    they are both coldwater livbearers

    good luck

  5. most tropical fish can tolerate cold water. i mean down to 15 degrees C. If you wanna go below that, get some goldfish or white clouds or similar cyprinids.

Fish i kept successfully at  15degrees: platy, swordtail, goldfish, koi, white cloud, danio, rosy barb, tiger barb, neon tetra, black neon, glowlight tetra, blue gourami...

Fish that can't live long at that temperature: cardinal tetra, angel, betta.

  6. well zebra danios and minnows can be tropical or coldwater fish

  7. u can get guppies they can be cold water or tropical

  8. Some of the fish that I know are corydoras catfish species. They actually like it better in cooler tanks. For shoaling middle dwelling fish, there is  always the white cloud mountain minnow, close relative of the goldfish, which adapts well to a cool environment. Paradise fish are also successfully kept with goldfish so they are also good candidates.
