What truck or SUV should i get?

Alright, so im looking at buying a used truck or suv. Im wanting one from around 2000-2002.

I'm trying to find something with a tiny engine, for some good fuel economy. I have absolutely no need for a truck or an suv though. I'm a single guy, and i never haul anything or go off roading. I don't have quads or anything to haul around either, I just don't want a car!

Anyways, out of these which has the smallest engine/best fuel economy? And which is reliable?

TRUCKS:

---

GMC Sanoma

Ford Ranger

Toyota Tacoma

Mazda B Series

Chevrolet S-10

Any other small trucks?

SUV'S

---

Ford Escape

Mazda Tribuite

Toyota Rav 4

Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

Any other small suv's?

****My budget is 8k-10k. And this is in CANADA, but answers from USA would be useful too.****

Thanks.

  1. I love the Tacoma, it's tough as nails and lasts a long, long time.  I have the 07 w/ V-6.  I think the 2000 to 2002 models are still 4-cylinder... So if you go with the Tacoma, just make sure you check the engine size, because the mileage difference between a V6 and 4-cyl is pretty big (I get 20 mpg, mostly highway).  Rav 4 is pretty good too, and the Honda CRV is pretty much the same thing.  For 8 to 10K, I'd be shocked if you couldn't find either.

  2. I would choose between the Tacoma, Escape, Tribute, RAV4.

Escape should be newer for that price than the Tacoma or RAV4.. Also, with the pick up, you might need winter tire in Canada, even with 4WD since the rear has no weight at all.. In the New york snow I see a lot of pick up trucks sliding all over the place because of this.. I had an 05 Escape, I really liked it, it looked nice in and out and had enough room too! I'm not sure I would love the RAV4 with auto, for me, it's not enough power in it's 4cylinders..
