What truths and sacred messages for mankind are hidden/disguised in mythologies/myths?

The essential message from world mythology is that we are all divine beings experiencing a human journey. Heroic or saviour-type myths reflect us all in the great soul journey of humanity.

I think it's a mistake to look for sacred messages in myths.  They're just stories.  Look at them the same way you look at Harry Potter or Batman.

I think many myths are about overcoming odds, usurping evil or fighting evil.. or like that rastah said, get up stand up dont give up the fight.

My personal feeling on that message is that we must combat ourselves into being better, fight the internal demons: struggle to become better.

Fear, greed, whatever your poison may be, combat it.

Theres also many stories about love, the relationships we have with our fellow people are wonderful, and there are few things that can even relate to the feelings possible.

Truly, more stories should be about the way small tribes succeed where huge global empires fail.   I think we should start a new series of kid books :]

Read Ovid in high school, and felt akin to the Prometheus story... work sucks, rolling that boulder up the hill, but don't feel personally that work should be punishment... which ties into scripture. there should be something okay and wonderful and fullfilling about doing a good job, also scripture, that speaks to the readiness of the tangible. To lay hands on something, and work its worthiness out for yourself. Maybe to find beauty in duty, and see that it is good.
