Question:

What tv should I buy for my ps3?

Basically got around £400 to spend on a tv for my ps3, not much,

but i can do with a small screen.

Just confused, as the mainstream stores currys and the like dont list 1080p or i on any tv below around £1000 which i dont really understand.

They all say HD ready, but confused as to which one to go for.

Basically, is 400 enough for a 1080p tv?

Any suggestions of products from the UK would be completley well recieved.

Cheers

  1. if you want to buy  a telly with a good picture, buy a sony, they are the only tv's that can give out a true red colour on screen.

also you want a 1080p not 1080i hd to het true hi-def

  2. All LCD screens being sold above 32 inches should run 1080p (and a select few are probably available at 26 or lower), but you'll also need to budget for the HDMI cable, which can be a bit expensive. Without an HDMI cable (or at the very least component cables), there's not any benefit to getting an HDTV for your PS3.

Sony and Samsung are both great LCD companies, but they're pricey. The LG TV's are good and usually more affordable. Don't get a really bad brand, like Vizio or Element, Olevia, Polaroid, and I'd even say Magnavox and JVC. I worked at a retail store selling TVs, and these never looked good compared to others on the floor.

If you don't care about having the largest TV for your 400, then go for a quality TV and the proper cables. Having a pixellated picture on a big screen won't be as enjoyable as having a smooth, highi-quality picture.

UPDATE: I would take a Toshiba over a Phillips any day. They're one of my favorite brands for LCD, behind Sony and Samsung, and tied with LG.
