Also the new pansionic veria 58" what do you think is a better buy?

The best buy, dollar for dollar, in any large plasma screen is Panasonic. PERIOD.

Get the 'Viera' and save a bunch of money without without compromising quality, not to mention reliability. This is not to put down the Kuro, which is a great set, but simply an acknowledgment of how really good the Panasonic is.

Check out the 11/07 and 3/08 HDTV articles in Consumer Reports. Panasonic is top rated in performance and reliability. And, should the need ever arise, you will probably find service for the Panasonic more readily available.
