It will have a diamond tip in its edge.While applying certain fixed force the penetration depth gives the measurement directly. The brinell is having a hardened ball in its tip. While applying a fixed force the ball makes an impression on the material tested.The diameter of that mark is measured and compared with the chart to get the result.
