  1. Well, my baby started off with just the light blankets.  Put a warm outfit on him/her.  What ever you do do not put too many blankets on them.  you can kind of guess if she is hot or cold by feeling her body.  If he/she is sweating, she's too hot.  if his/her hand are like ice cubes, she probably cold.  And make sure not to put anything to fluffy in there as she might suffocate.  It happened to me when I was 6 weeks old.  Luckily my mom found me and my Dad did CPR.  I don't want to scare you, just want to tell you what I know.  You are gonna be paranoid no matter what.  It's a mothers instict, so stick to them!

  2. I have a variety of blankets for my daughter and use them all very often and for different things-

Receiving blankets- great for layering in car seats and throwing in the diaper bag. Can also use as a burp rag in an emergency.

Heavier, fuzzy blankets- great for lying on the floor for tummy time or to change baby when there are no other options

Soft, fuzzy blankets- great for layering in the swing and car seat and make great 'snuggly' blankets when baby is older.

  3. new blanket won't be as soft as used blanket. It's best to soak the new blanket in a softener, or wash it a few time with your other laundry.

  4. Make sure you have a lot of receiving blankets. i use those a lot! ummm for the winter i would have a couple thick big blankets..those are the most expensive ones you usually see. I personally liked also, the thermal looking blankets. I have 4 of those and like 25 receiving blankets. And about 4 big winter blankets. Ummm.. if you use like a pack n play ..depends on how much you will use it...i did use mine a lot so i had 2-3 sheets for that...and when you start putting the baby in a crib...i would have sheets for that...you can keep buying those along the way....so you dont have to spend so much money all at once. i have 3 right now. but i just started putting my 3 month old in there. he was sleeping in his pack n play. i think quilts are for looks. thats what i would buy them for. they are too big and heavy.duvets..dont see a reason for you to get that. or shawls. or a sleeping bag until the baby is older. hope that helps! oh and i use a lot of burping clothes too :) for spit up and drool!

The receiving blankets you can lay down anywhere and put the baby on..that is why i like em so much..and when you have them laying around...and no burp cloth..i use the blankets for that too. and my son likes to hold on to them and play with them. good for the summer because they are light weight but still keep them warm in case.

  5. okay well you know he REALLY soft blanckets out of cotten!! Dont get that! It well eritate the baby and it shrink fast. Get a quilt probally two one for the baby crib and one for on the floor for when he/she can walk!
