  1. According to the Winchester Product Service Guide for 2008 its the 55 grain pointed soft point an the 53 grain hollow point bullets.* Take your pick.*

  2. The Barnes Varmint Grenade is the newest bullet on the market, and by far the most impressive.  A grape tomato provides enough resistance for the round to "explode".

Available in factory loaded Black hills ammo, stats are on their site, click this link and click on the .223 link on that page.

  3. Soft points or hollow points....

Look here at this guide and links.... All the info a guy could ask for concerning the .223 is here.....

  4. hollow points because of expansion

  5. Depending on your goal. Do you want the pelt or just to rid the area game birds of a nemesis? I would suggest a balistic tip as it is designed to expend all but a fraction of it's energy inside the animal. I've shot many songdogs using my .223 loaded with a 40 grain Nosler Balistic tip with excellent results. The animal dropped instantly with little or no pass through which does the most damage to the fur. If you don't care about the pelt then a hollow point does the job fine with a little more damage on the exit. As with any shot the placement is a variable to keep at the front of your mind. A bad shot could change each situation. Good luck!
