Ok so there are 4 type of Ernie Ball's electric guitar strings. Nickel Wound, Pure Nickel, Stainless Steel, And Reinforced Plain Steel. I really dont know the difference between them, which one is better for playing, and stuff like that. So if u could fill me in on that it would be great. thanks~

  1. Well try to put this in guitar, but i would just try them all and then go with whichever you feel is the best fitting for you. Look at elixir, although expensive at first, its worth it because they will last about 3-5 times longer than any other string including Ernie Ball. This is due to the nano-web technology. As for which is better for playing, it is all opinion, this is why they make more than one model, so people buy each and test them out... good luck

  2. Nickel Wound Slinkys are the best on the planet.  I don't really buy into the coated Elixirs (price, and quality) I dont like how the coating comes off...

Slash, Clapton, Jimmy Page and more play EB's and ever since I started playing I've used these bad boys...Best Tone on the planet....

  3. Every player I know prefers something different.  I prefer nickle wound and I use D'Addario.  But one of the greats, Paul McCartney, when asked what kind of string he preferred said, "whatever stretches from one end of the guitar to the other"  :)

Try them all and see if you can tell a difference.  If you can't...buy the cheaper ones.
